Jon Older graduated in English and Drama from the University of Wales in 1975. After 4 years as a Stage Manager in Coventry, Exeter and Scotland, he joined Granada Television in Manchester in 1980 as a trainee Floor Manager. After a move to HTV West in Bristol, he became a freelance Assistant Director in 1985.
Jon has worked extensively in film and television drama in all parts of the UK but also in North America, Canada, France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Spain, Norway, Japan and South Africa as Assistant Director, 2nd Unit Director and also as Director.
His many production credits include Grantchester, Vera, New Tricks, Silent Witness, Doctor Who, Chloe, Poldark, Death in Paradise, Primeval, Foyle's War, Ashes to Ashes, Taggart, The Ruth Rendell Mysteries, Robin of Sherwood and Alan Clarke's cult British comedy Rita, Sue and Bob Too amongst many others.
